Analyst Prep is a new and very affordable question bank built by a team of young entrepreneurs in Montreal. They are on a mission to create helpful CFA® exam Level 1 study tools at a reasonable price, enabling you to retain more money for the celebration, as they nicely put it.
There are so many new and exciting CFA® exam related study aids entering the market these days, which is fantastic. I wish all of these tools were available back when I sat my own exam. It is however pretty difficult to differentiate between all of these tools, figuring out which ones are genuinely going to improve your exam performance.
So let’s have a look at it to figure out what all the fuss is about.
Analyst Prep Interface:
The platform is responsive. I tested it out on a range of different laptop browsers and using an Android and an iOS smartphone. The user interface could not be more simple, a small drop down menu in the top right hand corner enables you to shift between the question bank, analytics, mock exam generator and a forum.
Analyst Prep Question Bank:
Logging in to Analyst Prep you are immediately faced by the first multiple choice question in the first reading of the curriculum. On the left hand side you have got a menu with all of the readings in the current curriculum, enabling you to jump around and quiz yourself in any area of the curriculum as you progress through the readings. If you press validate under each question you will receive immediate feedback on your answer.
Analyst Prep Performance Stats:
Every time you validate one of your answers it is recorded, and you are able to compare your aggregate score with the current class of students studying for the same test, enabling you to see how well you are progressing against peers. You can also see how much time you have spend on each of the 10 topics in a pie chart and how your % of right answers has evolved over time, which is a very useful statistic to analyze your own progress.
Analyst Prep Mock Exams
The platform provides access to two full mock exams, complete with answer sheets, that you can print and take away. As you might know we recommend that you try and replicate the exam conditions as closely as possible when working through mock exams, and being able to print the documents is very helpful in this regard. In addition the build your own quiz tool enables you to build a quiz with either 30, 60 or 120 questions (full mock exam), pulling questions from the 1500+ question bank, with an online timer, so you can see how your speed compares to what is going to be required on exam day.
Summary:
This is by no means the most extensive solution on offer, but sometimes too many features can be overwhelming and counterproductive. If your choice is between Analyst Prep and no revision tool at all this is a very compelling offer. What it does really well is helping you focus on question practice, which is totally aligned with our recommendation to candidates. And the $69 price tag coupled with the company’s pass guarantee is extremely attractive.
So if you are a self starter looking for an affordable additional question bank, this might just be the answer. You can read more over at AnalystPrep.com
